Many people don’t know how The List works. The items in our OUT column are IN right now; they are reaching, or have reached, a point of cultural saturation. The items in our IN column will be in IN — or will remain IN — in 2013. So, yes, many people have not heard of Scoot McNairy at this point; the List is predictive and prescriptive in that way. In regards to Joseph Gordon-Levitt, here is our explanation for why he’s OUT and Scoot is IN: JGL had four sensitive-indie-action-man flicks in 2012. In 2013, Scoot has five.
